Community Involvement

Diversity in the Community
AmTrust Bank is involved in and supports a wide range of community efforts that promote diversity and the awareness and acceptance of differences in a proactive and inclusive manner.

Highlights:
Our retail bank branches participate in and conduct a variety of initiatives on an ongoing basis, ensuring that we are serving all communities on equal levels. Examples include: our participation in the Cleveland Saves and Habitat for Humanity programs; the presentation of home buying seminars; working with area boards of realtors; involvement in the Cleveland Women's Council of NAREB; partnerships with local schools (e.g., Adlai Stevenson's Learn to Read and Student Banking programs); and participation in Cleveland Citirama and the Lake County Community Development Corporation.

We are involved in the Cleveland Commission on Economic Partnerships & Inclusion (Cleveland Roundtable initiative) along with 80 of the area's largest employers. We are a contributor (investment) to the Minorities With Vision Pinnacle Fund (MWV Pinnacle) to help minority-owned, Ohio-based businesses become national (even global) competitors. We are a part of the downtown Cleveland (Euclid Ave.) revitalization, including a project at 515 Euclid Avenue, and participate in Cleveland's Job Creation & Retention Task Force.

AmTrust Bank has participated in the Federal Home Loan Bank's (FHLB) Affordable Housing Program, and has partnered with Cleveland Housing Network (CHN), the largest nonprofit developer of affordable housing in Cleveland. Most recently, Ohio Savings provided subsidized permanent mortgage financing for CHN affordable housing developments. These projects provide rental housing for 15 years to low/moderate income households on scattered sites throughout the City of Cleveland; after 15 years, qualifying tenants may purchase the homes they have rented.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati (FHL Bank) has awarded AmTrust Bank of Cleveland with $50,000 in American Dream Homeownership Challenge grant funds. AmTrust Bank will partner with the Spanish American Committee (SAC) to provide homeownership education and special mortgage financing for 10 Hispanic households in the Cleveland area over the next two years.

Grant funds awarded to AmTrust and the SAC will be used by the SAC to pay for bilingual staff, advertising in Spanish publications, translation of materials into Spanish, bilingual homebuyer education workshops, and to help cover borrower's mortgage loan costs. AmTrust will assist by supporting marketing and outreach activities, and with homebuyer counseling. The Bank will also provide first mortgage financing using flexible underwriting, special affordable loan product options, and reduced fees.
