What is AmTrustDirect.com and who is AmTrust Bank?
AmTrustDirect.com is the online-only division of AmTrust Bank. It is for consumer accounts only. AmTrust Bank enjoys a rich and successful history. Founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1889 and originally known as Ohio Savings, the bank ended its first year with one office and $20,000 in assets. We have grown to become a national presence in retail banking, mortgage and construction lending, investment and insurance services. We are one of the 20 largest mortgage lenders in the United States, and have more than $17 billion in assets.
In 1989, we purchased Palm Plaza Savings Bank in Boca Raton, Florida, and renamed it AmTrust Bank. Now, in addition to branches in the Cleveland, Akron and Columbus, Ohio markets, there are AmTrust Bank branches throughout southeast Florida. Expansion into Arizona began in 2000, when we opened our first AmTrust Bank branch in the Phoenix area. Since then, additional branches have opened in this burgeoning region, and future expansion is planned.
And in 2007, to better reflect our national presence, we changed our name corporate wide to AmTrust Bank.
Guided by sound and prudent management, we continue to be an industry leader in exceptional products and impeccable service. Throughout our history, we have been nationally recognized for our products, service and commitment to the community.
We were one of the first banks to offer convertible adjustable rate mortgages, fixed rate credit cards and a host of other products. Today, our online banking program and award winning Customer Contact Center offer 24-hour-a-day access, allowing our customers to open new accounts, get up-to-the-minute account information and more.

You will also receive instructions as to where to mail the check and form, and how the check should be written. Yes. Accounts, either individual or joint, with up to two beneficiaries can be opened online. You will have the opportunity to name a beneficiary during the online application process.
Back to TopHow do I know when my new account is opened?
Opening a CD, e-Money Market or e-Savings account on AmTrustDirect.com is simple:
- Complete the online application, where you will select an initial funding option. You can have the funds withdrawn from a checking or savings account with another bank as an Automated Clearinghouse ("ACH")transaction, which is electronic. You also have the option to send us a check for the opening deposit. We process ACH transactions faster, because information is shared electronically, without waiting for the paper check to go through the mail. Using ACH means you will begin to earn interest faster.
- If your application to open a CD, e-Money Market or e-Savings account is received after 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on a business day, or on a Saturday, Sunday or Federal holiday, the CD interest will begin to accrue as of the next business day and the account will be opened when we complete our application process. Our business days are Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays. If you provide your opening deposit funds by check, the CD will be opened and interest will begin to accrue on the business day the check is received; the opening could be delayed up to 10 business days or more due to mailing and check processing delays beyond our control.
- Once the CD, e-Money Market or e-Savings account is open, we will send you a confirmation letter with your account number via U.S. mail. Allow 5 to 7 days for the letter to arrive.

Back to TopWhat if I provide AmTrust Direct with maturity instructions after the CD grace period?
You may redeem your CD, or change the amount or term, within 7 calendar days after the maturity date without penalty. If you do not provide instructions before the grace period ends, your AmTrust Direct CD (including accrued interest) will rollover at the same term into our current rate. After the 7 day grace period, a penalty will be assessed for early withdrawal. If the 7th day of the grace period falls on a weekend or holiday, you will be required to provide maturity instructions by 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the immediately preceding business day. Our business days are Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
Back to TopWhat are my options if I want to close my CD during the grace period?
To close your CD during the grace period, please send a written request postmarked by the last day of the grace period that includes your name, account number, current term, amount of the CD, and your instructions for closing the CD to: AmTrust Bank, P.O. Box 94647, Cleveland, Ohio 44101-4647.
Additionally, if you opened your CD account online, you can send us a secure message from inside online banking by logging into your online banking account, clicking on the services tab, and then clicking on "Send Secured Message". Be sure to include your account number, current term, amount of the CD, and your instructions for closing the CD in your secure message. We will then mail you an official check in the amount of your CD.
Back to TopCan I add money to my CD once it has been opened?
No, you may not add money to your CD prior to the maturity date once it is opened. You may add money or change the term or rate of your CD account for up to seven (7) days after maturity without penalty. We mail a CD pre-renewal notice to you with instructions for renewal, about 30 days before your CD maturity date. If you do not take action by the last day of the grace period, your CD will automatically renew, at the standard rate that applies to the term of your CD.
When renewing your CD online, your new CD will renew with the same interest disbursement frequency and method as your expiring CD. Any addition to or withdrawal from a CD must be done by submitting a written request postmarked by the last day of the grace period, that includes your name, account number, current term, amount of the CD, and your instructions for either re-investing full or partial funds to: AmTrust Bank, P.O. Box 94647, Cleveland, Ohio 44101-4647. For additions to your CD account, please enclose a check made payable to AmTrust Bank in the amount you would like added to your account. You may not see the additional funds reflected online in the CD balance for up to 10 business days, due to mailing delays that are beyond our control. However, the interest earned on the CD will assume the additional funds were deposited on the first day of the new term for the renewed CD, so there will be no loss of earned interest if additional funds are mailed to us.
Online renewals made on a non-business day or after 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on a business day, Saturday, Sunday or Federal holiday will be effective on the next business day. If a grace period ends on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, renewals, deposits or withdrawals must be made on or by the business day immediately preceding the end of the grace period. Our business days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
